Square Register for iPad

The big announcement from Square happened on Monday in New York and it did not disappoint. Square is the company that introduced the card reader that allows point of sale on iOS devices. Now Square takes their concept to the next level with the introduction “Square Register” for iPad and iPad 2. This is really exciting and innovative integration with the iPad 2. The vision here by Square is eventually to replace the traditional cash register with iPads that are equipped with the new Square Register device and software interface. The Square ipad app will allow businesses to customize the screen interface with their full list of products and brand it for their business.

Analytics tools will allow businesses to see up-the-minute details on sales performance, broken down by any number of metrics to help businesses study sales trends. The Square Register functionality comes as an update to the iPad version of the company’s universal App Store app.
How it will really catch on is with the consumer. Square also, introduced the “Card Case” along with the Square Register. This virtual business card give customers a lot of detail about their favorite merchants. From your virtual card case you be able to access live-updated menus and product listings and see your transaction histories.

Square CEO, Jack Dorsey compares this to having a permanent tab opened with the business will allow a customer to establish a relationship with a business and pay for goods without having to carry a wallet. Your receipts are pushed to your phone for record-tracking. iPad and iPhone users can initiate a payment by activating the business’s Square Card on their phone when within range of the business and then simply giving their name at the register to have the purchase charged to their account.

You should be able to start using Square Register and Square Cards in New York City, San Francisco, Washington DC, St. Louis, and Los Angeles with selected Square merchants right away. Can’t wait to see merchants using their iPad 2 cash registers.

Apple Retail 2.0 has iPad 2 displays

Apple retail stores have opened the doors to Apple 2.0. Apple’s new retail upgrade, will make use interactive iPad 2 displays for all product information for a rich in-store experience. We love this idea.

In celebration of the 10th anniversary of Apple retail stores, the Cupertino, Calif., company opened its first retail stores on May 19, 2001, in McLean, Virginia and Glendale, Calif. Employees were wearing party hats, also. The new iPad 2 display units show the devices are placed under plexiglass. We can wait to test these iPad 2 displays for ourselves. We are wondering what the touch experience will be like under the protective plexiglass. According to sources, the main change is the addition of stationary iPad 2’s placed next to other Apple products in order to display product prices, information and features. The iPad 2‘s can also be used to compare models and ask for help from an Apple specialist.

These display iPad 2 devices are running a custom software, as customers report that pressing the home button on the tablets does nothing. There have been rumors of a special gesture that will revert the iPad to its original setup.

Will you buy your cat an iPad 2?

When will you buy your iPad 2 mobile device? Now there’s even more compelling reasons as a new world of prospective consumers emerges. Your cat.
Friskies, the Purina cat food brand, has just launched three iPad-based games to satisfy your feline’s gaming needs. We are not kidding and Friskies is quite serious. Watch the YouTube video and you’ll see how interactive this game is for cats. Are these cats actually “playing” the games?
Friskies isn’t the first to launch an iPad game for cats though. There are a few others out there, but Friskies is the first one from a pet food brand.

iPad 2 app for your refrigerator

We found a unique iPad 2 app for the kitchen or actually wherever you keep your refrigerator. This iPad 2 app is called Freezerview. It is primarily designed for iPad 2 with it’s built-in front and rear cameras. The FreezerView iPad 2 app allows you to get an overview of your freezer’s content with the use of the camera on your iPad 2. It categorizes and time stamps with lots of other tagging features. So you locate the item within seconds when you open up your freezer.
This iPad 2 app even gives you a warning before your food expires, so you may never have to throw out food again. It’s simple to use: Choose a freezer that looks like your own real-life one and then just add items to your freezer by naming them, placing them and assigning a container type with it’s own color. Then the app automatically stamps the date you add an item. So for example, you enter frozen bag of broccoli into your ipad device. You identify the container section and this iPad app will alert you after a set period (which you can set individually for each item). It’s flexible too. Once you’ve added a freezer item, you can move or change the container as many times as you like.

iPad 2 is hot in Beijing today

Today was a big day in Beijing China. Apple’s iPad 2 went on sale on the Chinese Mainland. And yes, there were huge lines waiting outside the flagship Xidan store in Beijing. Apple seems to have worked hard to lessen the gap between the U.S. and China releases of the iPad 2 this time around. The first-generation iPad took four months to officially arrive in China, while the iPhone 4 saw a two month delay and the iPad 2 launched less than two months after the U.S. release. China’s thriving grey market may have motivated Apple to shorten the gap between products so as to slow down the scalpers. When I visited Beijing a few years ago, for the first time, I felt like I was going back in time. To see this explosion of the iPad 2 in Beijing is very significant for Apple. China seems to be embracing the Apple brands which will ultimately be Apple’s biggest success story. This probably means that the iPad 2 is going to enter into the category of “phenom” with global product launches. The demand for iPad 2 is astonishing! It is not just an American-early-adopter buying trend. TheiPad 2 will likely make history as the most successful global product launch in the technology space EVER. Can you think of any other product that has done this phenomenally well? Leave your comments below.
