Review: Kids Mosaic HD

We found a clever iPad app for children that brings those popular mosaic kits to the iPad tablet. This great new iPad app is even better in that it lets children have the mosaic experience without the mess and cleanup. This app is called Kids Mosaic HD and it involves replicating 36 different images or your child can just use this iPad app in a free play mode to come up with their own designs.

The Kids Mosaic HD app has two modes of play. We really liked the adventure mode which offers children the ability to select their own mosaic image from a collection and then recreate it using colored tiles. Nine tile pieces are used to create the pictures, they include a square, four triangles and four quadrants. With a tap and drag the tiles can be easily moved into twelve different colors. Once children have selected their mosaic image they can begin moving the pieces on the iPad tablet screen. A more advanced game method for older children can recreate the picture by counting the number of pieces and then move the tiles to the correct space they belong.

The developers have given thought to making this games easy for younger children by providing a help button which displays an outline of the picture for the child to see. There are two different ways to place tiles on the board. One is to tap and drag a tile into place or just tap on a tile and then tap on the square where it should go. Once children successfully complete a picture they’ll receive a congratulations and can automatically move on to the next mosaic.

The Free mode allows your children position the tiles to create any mosaic design of their choice. We really liked that added feature that allows children to take a screenshot photo of their free mode design. We think children will enjoy both modes of play. Some children will want to start out with the image collection to begin play and others will want to jump right in to create their own. We think your children will enjoy the music and sound effects that accompany game play. Also we needed to mention that there is a delete button that when it is tapped it displays small “x’s” on all of the tiles that have been placed on the board. Your child will simply tap on an x and the tile will be deleted.

We think you child will enjoy this game for hours at a time. This iPad app is available for $1.99 on the iTunes app store by clicking here.

Been an iPad user from day one of its release. Apple has been innovative from the beginning and now the rest of the world is getting on board. It's great to be able to spread the word about one of their mobile devices.
