Faulty Skype iPad 2 App Release (update:it’s available)
Last night the long awaited Skype iPad 2 App was released to the US app store but was quickly yanked by Skype within a few hours. If you remember a few months back Skype had another faux pas when they posted a YouTube video demoing their upcoming iPad 2 app which they also pulled quickly. Is this a new kind of marketing ploy where you blunder to get press? Maybe the Skype employee responsible for pushing the button on their new iPad 2 app has a neurological tic that causes PSR (Premature Skype Release). Could it be the curse of being in the process of being acquired by Microsoft? Skype’s response to their goof came by way of Twitter at about midnight EST which you can see in the screen capture above. Continue Reading →

Facebook iPad App Leaked
The new iPad app for Facebook has been found hidden inside of the Facebook iPhone app. Apparently, @AeroEchelon on Twitter revealed a hack to make the hidden Facebook iPad app appear using a jailbroken iPad 2. The guys at TechCrunch took that tip and ran with it and played around with the Facebook app for iPad. The images above are from the TechCrunch site which did not offer a slide show only a bank of images. TechCrunch confirms that they have checked with a source close to the Facebook iPad app team and this is in fact the actual iPad app design that is going to be released very soon. I wonder if this was an actual planned leak by Facebook to create buzz and measure the response to their new design? Either way we are thrilled with the possibility of this Facebook iPad app being released soon.

iPad 3 Release in October?
The new iPad 3 rumors continue regarding an earlier-than-expected release schedule. According to a report just out from Digitimes reveals that iPad component suppliers are seemingly ratcheting up the flow of parts into the Asian supply chain.
Taiwan-based companies included in the supply chain for iPhone 5 and iPad 3 have begun to prepare materials for the production of the two devices, which are likely to make their debuts in September and to hit the market in October, according to industry sources.
This would be a very aggressive release cycle that shows Apple is confident in the global demand for the iPad tablet. The availability of the iPad 3 has been a hot topic for some time. Back in January, several analysts heard that Apple had requested that manufacturers begin work on displays with retina resolution for the iPad 3, and that the device had been postponed until 2012. Apple now seems to have accelerated its plans, to keep the iPad 3 ahead of competitors efforts to try and penetrate the dominant market share Apple holds in the global tablet market. With Apple hitting the new milestone of 100,000 iPad apps on the app store, competitors are seeing the gap widen in the tablet market space.
